Faith That Alters Reality (Part 1): The Invisible Word That Shapes the Visible World

Based on a message from Trumpet Call Broadcast by Rev. Terrance Shivers

Welcome to Trumpet Call Broadcast

Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ!

Welcome to Trumpet Call Broadcast, where our mission is to proclaim the life-changing message of Jesus Christ with boldness, clarity, and the power of the Holy Spirit. We encourage every listener to like, subscribe, and share these teachings with family and friends. Every time you share God's Word, you become a participant in spreading the Gospel of life, faith, healing, and salvation throughout the world.

Recently we completed an extensive series on "You Must Be Born Again." Our prayer is that those truths continue to produce lasting fruit in every believer's life. Now we begin a new study that may become a series because of the depth of the subject:

Faith That Alters Reality

This is not intended to be a quick motivational message. Rather, it is an invitation to explore one of the greatest spiritual laws in Scripture—the law of faith—and discover how God's Word has the power to alter circumstances, redirect outcomes, and produce realities that otherwise would never exist.

Without Faith, Nothing Else Works

Before examining faith's power, we must recognize its necessity.

The Bible declares:

"Without faith it is impossible to please God."(Hebrews 11:6)

Faith is not merely optimism.

Faith is not positive thinking.

Faith is not convincing yourself that everything will work out.

Faith is the God-ordained means by which we lay hold of everything God has spoken.

Everything God promises is received by faith.

Hebrews 11:1-3 — The Foundation of Reality

The central text begins in Hebrews 11:

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen... Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God..."

These verses reveal one of the deepest truths in all of Scripture.

Notice two important words:

  • Things hoped for

  • Things not seen

The passage doesn't speak about imaginary concepts.

It speaks about things.

The invisible realm contains realities that exist even though they cannot presently be observed by human senses.

Faith connects us to those unseen realities.

Faith Gives Substance to the Invisible

Hebrews says faith is both:

  • Substance

  • Evidence

These are courtroom words.

Evidence is something visible.

Substance is something tangible.

Yet the object of faith is invisible.

How can something invisible produce visible evidence?

Because faith itself becomes the evidence that the invisible Word of God is operating.

An Illustration of Invisible Power

Imagine blowing your breath across a sheet of paper.

You cannot see your breath.

Yet you can immediately observe the paper moving.

The movement becomes evidence of an invisible force.

Likewise:

You cannot physically see God's Word.

But you can observe what His Word produces in a believer's life.

Faith is the visible response to an invisible Word.

It is the movement produced by God's unseen truth operating inside a human heart.

Faith is action.

Faith is behavior.

Faith is obedience.

Faith is evidence.

Jesus Saw Their Faith

One powerful biblical example appears when four men lowered their paralyzed friend through the roof to Jesus.

The Scripture says:

"When Jesus saw their faith..."

Notice what Jesus saw.

He did not see an emotion.

He did not see an internal feeling.

He saw actions produced by confidence in God's ability.

Faith always expresses itself.

It moves.

It acts.

It obeys.

Faith Never Rises Above God's Word

An important principle follows:

Faith can never rise above the known will of God.

Biblical faith is not believing for whatever we personally desire.

Biblical faith is believing what God has already spoken.

True faith says:

"If God said it, I will live as though it is true—even while every visible circumstance argues against it."

This is not denial.

It is choosing to be governed by God's Word rather than by temporary appearances.

Faith Acts Like God's Word Is True

Many misunderstand biblical faith.

Faith does not deny reality.

Faith acknowledges reality while refusing to allow reality to have the final word.

For example:

If your body is sick, faith does not pretend sickness doesn't exist.

Instead, faith behaves according to what God has declared about healing.

Your actions become evidence that God's invisible promise is more trustworthy than your visible condition.

Faith is living according to God's declaration instead of present contradiction.

The Worlds Were Framed by the Word of God

Hebrews says:

"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God."

The word "worlds" is significant.

It refers not merely to planets or physical creation but also to ages, seasons, and the unfolding events within time itself.

Everything that exists—including history—was framed by God's Word.

That means God's Word is greater than:

  • Time

  • Circumstances

  • Natural limitations

  • Human history

God's Word possesses authority over reality itself.

Faith Alters the Script

One of the most remarkable ideas presented is this:

Certain outcomes may appear inevitable according to natural circumstances.

History seems fixed.

Circumstances seem settled.

But when God's Word enters the situation, the script changes.

His Word produces an alternate outcome.

This is why the message is called:

Faith That Alters Reality

God's promises introduce possibilities that did not previously exist within natural limitations.

Abraham and Sarah: Reality Rewritten

Consider Abraham and Sarah.

Every natural indicator declared they would never have children.

Biology said no.

Age said no.

Time said no.

Reality itself appeared settled.

Yet one Word from God rewrote the future.

The impossible became history because God's eternal Word interrupted natural reality.

Time yielded to the promise.

The timeline itself changed.

What seemed impossible became inevitable because God had spoken.

Everything Visible Came from Something Invisible

The visible universe originated from an invisible source.

Everything we experience came from God's Word.

That includes:

  • Time

  • Space

  • Matter

  • Mountains

  • Oceans

  • Stars

  • Human bodies

Before light existed...

God spoke.

Before creation existed...

God declared.

The declaration preceded the manifestation.

The invisible always came before the visible.

God Never Consulted Reality

One of the most profound statements of this message is this:

God never consulted reality before He spoke.

Human beings develop ideas from what they observe.

We imagine based on experiences we've already had.

God is completely different.

Before anything existed...

He already possessed thoughts.

He already possessed plans.

He already possessed purpose.

Reality itself originated from His imagination.

His Word became the vehicle that carried His eternal thoughts into visible existence.

Reality did not shape God's thinking.

God's thinking shaped reality.

God's Thoughts Existed Before You Did

This truth also applies personally.

God's thoughts about your life did not begin when you were born.

His plans preceded your existence.

As Jeremiah records:

"I know the thoughts that I think toward you..."

His purposes are eternal.

You are not an afterthought.

You are the manifestation of thoughts God held from eternity.

Reality Consulted God's Word

Perhaps the greatest statement of all is this:

God did not consult reality before He spoke.

Reality consulted His Word before it existed.

That principle has never changed.

The invisible Word still precedes visible manifestation.

God still works by releasing His thoughts through His spoken Word.

One Word Contains Infinite Power

Every Word from God carries immeasurable life.

Isaiah declares that God's Word never returns empty.

It accomplishes exactly what He sends it to perform.

Even more astonishing:

Every believer has been born again through that same incorruptible Word.

The very Word that created creation has recreated the believer.

The eternal Word that framed the universe now lives within those who belong to Christ.

That truth alone deserves deep meditation.
