Born to Overcome: The Victory of the New Birth

There is a victory that belongs to every true believer in Jesus Christ — not a victory that begins after the battle is over, but a victory that began the moment you were born again.

The Bible says in 1 John:

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”— 1 John 5:4-5

When you received Jesus Christ as Lord, something supernatural happened inside of you. You did not merely join a religion. You received the very life and Spirit of the risen Christ. Jesus is called the “firstborn from the dead,” meaning His resurrection opened the door for many sons and daughters to come into the family of God.

That means if He overcame, you overcame in Him.

The Celebration Started at Salvation

Many believers are waiting to celebrate after the situation changes. They wait until the bills are paid, the sickness leaves, the family is restored, or the breakthrough manifests naturally before they rejoice.

But heaven celebrates before the manifestation appears.

The Bible says there is joy in heaven over one sinner that repents. Why? Because heaven recognizes that when a person is truly born again, the victory has already begun.

At salvation:

• You overcame sin.

• You overcame the kingdom of darkness.

• You overcame spiritual death.

• You overcame the curse.

• You overcame the world system.

• You overcame Satan through Christ.

Even if the outward battle is still unfolding, the inward victory has already been established.

Faith Connects You to the Victory

The scripture says:

“This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

Faith is not pretending problems do not exist. Faith is connecting yourself to a greater reality — the finished work of Jesus Christ.

When trials come, faith reaches into the Word of God and says:

• “By His stripes I am healed.”

• “My God shall supply all my need.”

• “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”

• “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.”

Faith contradicts the trial with the truth of God’s Word.

Joy Is the First Manifestation of Victory

One powerful truth believers must understand is that joy is often the first manifestation of breakthrough.

Before circumstances change outwardly, something begins changing inwardly.

The Apostle Peter said believers can rejoice even while in heaviness through manifold temptations. That joy is not denial. That joy is supernatural evidence that your spirit has touched the victory of Jesus Christ.

There are moments when the pressure is intense, but suddenly, as you meditate on the Word and connect with God by faith, joy rises up in your spirit. Peace comes. Laughter comes. Strength comes.

Why?

Because deep inside, your spirit recognizes that Jesus already won.

That joy is heaven’s celebration echoing inside of you.

Learning to Tap Into the Victory

One thing my wife and I practice consistently is this: when tribulation or trials arise, we go directly to the Word of God. We find scriptures that contradict the problem, and we stay with those promises until faith rises and joy begins to flow.

That joy becomes confirmation in our spirit that the victory belongs to us.

The written Word reveals it is finished.

The joy of the Holy Ghost confirms it in your spirit.

And many times, before the outward manifestation ever appears, the inward celebration has already started.

You Are Not Fighting for Victory — You Are Fighting From Victory

The believer must renew their mind to this reality:

You are not trying to become an overcomer.

If you are born of God, you already are one.

Jesus did not lose the battle. He conquered death, hell, and the grave. And because you are in Him, His victory has become your victory.

So rejoice.

Celebrate.

Worship in the middle of the storm.

Laugh in faith.

Stand on the Word of God until the joy of the Lord rises in your spirit.

Because the first manifestation of your victory often begins with holy joy.
