Born Again to Overcome: Finding Peace, Strength, and Victory in Christ

At a recent live broadcast from Terrance Shivers Ministries, Terrance Shivers opened with a passionate encouragement to believers everywhere, reminding the body of Christ that God’s Word is alive, powerful, and still transforming lives today.

Welcoming viewers from across social media to Trumpet Call Broadcast, he encouraged believers not only to watch and engage with the message, but also to share it with others as an act of sowing the living Word of God into people’s lives. Through every shared message, the gospel of light, faith, and healing continues to spread throughout the world.

The Word of God Is Alive in a Dead World

Opening in prayer, Pastor Shivers declared that the Word of God would go forth with “power, precision, and accuracy.” He emphasized that although the world is spiritually dead, God’s Word remains alive and active, quoting the powerful truth from Hebrews that the Word of God is “sharper than any two-edged sword,” discerning even the thoughts and intents of the heart.

From there, the message turned toward one of the central truths of Christianity: the reality of the new birth.

Peace Can Only Be Found in Jesus

Using John 16:33 as a foundation, Pastor Shivers emphasized Jesus’ words:

“In me you might have peace.”

He passionately explained that peace cannot truly be found outside of Christ. People search for fulfillment in drugs, relationships, entertainment, careers, and temporary pleasures, but none of those things can satisfy the deep spiritual need within the human soul.

According to the message, peace is not found in circumstances—it is found in a Person. Jesus alone is the source of lasting peace.

Yet Jesus also warned believers:

“In the world ye shall have tribulation.”

Tribulation was described not merely as hardship, but as intense pressure—circumstances that directly contradict God’s promises and challenge believers to abandon their faith.

Spiritual Strength Is Developed Through Resistance

Pastor Shivers compared spiritual growth to weight training. Just as weights do not automatically make someone stronger unless they are resisted, trials do not automatically produce strength unless believers respond correctly.

The key is learning how to push against the pressure of life with the Word of God.

When heaviness comes, believers are called to:

  • Continue saying what God said

  • Continue doing what God instructed

  • Stand on His promises regardless of circumstances

  • Resist fear, doubt, and discouragement

He referenced Mary’s instruction at the wedding in Cana:

“Whatever He says to you, do it.”

According to the sermon, this simple act of obedience became the foundation for Jesus’ first miracle.

Building Your Life on the Rock

Drawing from Jesus’ teaching about the wise and foolish builders, Pastor Shivers explained that storms come to everyone—saved and unsaved alike.

The difference is not the storm itself.

The difference is the foundation.

One man built his house upon sand, representing human reasoning and earthly thinking. Another built his house upon the rock, representing obedience to the sayings of Jesus. Both houses experienced rain, floods, and violent winds, yet only one remained standing.

The message made it clear:

  • Storms do not determine your outcome

  • Pressure does not destroy everyone equally

  • The real issue is how a person builds their life

A believer who acts on God’s Word develops spiritual endurance and stability that cannot be shaken.

Tribulation Produces Spiritual Power

The sermon described tribulation as spiritual exercise. Pressure becomes an opportunity for believers to strengthen their faith.

  • When sickness attacks, believers push toward healing

  • When lack appears, believers stand on God’s promises of provision

  • When fear comes, believers answer with faith

  • When discouragement arises, believers continue obeying God

Rather than being destroyed by trials, faithful believers are forged through them. Pastor Shivers described this process as God forming mighty men and women of valor through perseverance.

The longer believers remain faithful under pressure, the more spiritually equipped they become for their divine calling.

“I Have Overcome the World”

Returning again to John 16:33, Pastor Shivers focused on Jesus’ declaration:

“Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

He then connected this truth to the believer’s identity in Christ, declaring:

“As He is, so are we in this world.”

The message explained that Jesus experienced on the cross the same spiritual separation from God that entered humanity through Adam’s disobedience.

When Adam sinned, he did not immediately die physically. Instead, he died spiritually. His connection to God was severed. Pastor Shivers explained that this spiritual death caused humanity to become dominated by natural senses and earthly reasoning rather than spiritual understanding.

Without spiritual life, humanity became unable to truly perceive God.

The Reality of the New Birth

One of the most powerful moments of the sermon came as Pastor Shivers described his personal experience of being genuinely born again.

He explained that before salvation, spiritual things appeared foolish or meaningless. But when he truly encountered Christ, something supernatural happened within him. He suddenly realized that God was real, heaven and hell were real, and the Holy Spirit was not merely a religious idea but a living Person.

He described the overwhelming realization that he had truly been rescued from eternal destruction, and that this experience transformed his life permanently.

That revelation produced gratitude, zeal, and a desire to spend his life serving God and helping others come to salvation.

A True New Birth Produces Witnesses

Pastor Shivers challenged listeners with a strong statement:

“If your new birth was real, you’d be telling people.”

According to the message, genuine salvation produces inward transformation so powerful that believers naturally desire to share Christ with others.

Referencing Jesus’ words about the wind blowing where it wills, he explained that while the new birth cannot be physically seen, its effects become unmistakable. A person born of the Spirit begins to speak differently, live differently, and pursue God with new passion and understanding.

The miracle may be invisible to natural eyes, but the evidence of transformed life becomes impossible to ignore.
