The Invisible Word That Frames the Visible World
Hebrews 11:1-3
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen... Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."
There is a truth revealed in Hebrews 11 that is so powerful that it changes the way we look at life, circumstances, and even reality itself.
Most people live by what they can see. They make decisions based upon visible evidence. They allow their emotions, fears, and circumstances to dictate what they believe is possible.
But God operates from an entirely different realm.
The visible world was not created by visible things. According to Scripture, everything that exists in the natural world came from something unseen. Before there was light, there was God's Word. Before there was a universe, there was God's declaration. Before there was time, space, and matter, there was the eternal Word of God.
Faith is learning to cooperate with that invisible realm until what God has spoken becomes visible in our lives.
The Word Came Before the World
Genesis tells us that creation began with two simple words:
"And God said..."
Light did not create itself.
The stars did not organize themselves.
The earth did not evolve itself into existence.
Everything began when God spoke.
Romans 4:17 reveals that God is the One who "calls those things which be not as though they were."
God did not wait for reality to agree with Him before He spoke.
Reality was forced to agree with what He spoke.
That same principle still governs the Kingdom of God today.
Faith is not merely believing what exists.
Faith is agreeing with God's Word before you see the evidence.
Step One: Find Out What God Says
Faith begins where the will of God is known.
Many people are trying to believe God for things they have never found in His Word. Genuine faith is not built on wishes, emotions, or positive thinking.
Faith is built upon revelation.
Romans 10:17 tells us:
"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Before you can stand on a promise, you must first know the promise.
God's Word reveals His will.
His promises become the foundation of our expectation.
Faith begins when we discover what God has already spoken.
Step Two: Speak and Obey the Word
Faith was never designed to remain silent.
The same God who created the universe by speaking has instructed believers to release His Word through their own mouths.
Paul wrote:
"We having the same spirit of faith... we believe, and therefore speak."(2 Corinthians 4:13)
Jesus said:
"Whosoever shall say unto this mountain..."(Mark 11:23)
Faith speaks because faith believes.
However, faith is not merely confession.
Faith also obeys.
James tells us that faith without corresponding action is dead.
When God's Word enters our hearts, it must affect our speech and our actions.
We begin to talk differently.
We begin to act differently.
We begin to make decisions based upon God's promises rather than our circumstances.
Step Three: Endure the Contradiction
This is where many people quit.
God gives a promise.
Faith receives the promise.
Then circumstances appear that completely contradict the promise.
Abraham experienced this.
Joseph experienced this.
David experienced this.
Jesus Himself experienced this.
Every promise encounters opposition.
The contradiction is not proof that God failed.
The contradiction is proof that faith is being tested.
Hebrews 10:36 says:
"For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise."
The farmer does not plant a seed today and harvest tomorrow.
There is a season between sowing and reaping.
Likewise, there is often a season between believing and seeing.
Faith remains steadfast while waiting for manifestation.
Step Four: Watch the Word Alter Reality
Eventually the visible realm must bow to the authority of God's Word.
Isaiah 55:11 declares:
"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void."
God's Word carries within itself the power to accomplish what it promises.
The Word changes hearts.
The Word changes minds.
The Word changes bodies.
The Word changes families.
The Word changes destinies.
The Word that framed the worlds still possesses creative power.
What God has spoken cannot remain invisible forever.
If we continue believing, speaking, obeying, and enduring, manifestation will come.
Looking Beyond What You Can See
Paul wrote:
"While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen."(2 Corinthians 4:18)
This is the perspective of faith.
Faith understands that the unseen realm is more real than the seen realm.
Visible circumstances are temporary.
God's Word is eternal.
The doctor's report may be visible.
The financial problem may be visible.
The family situation may be visible.
But God's promise is greater than all of them.
Faith refuses to allow temporary circumstances to override eternal truth.
Conclusion: Reality Must Eventually Agree With God's Word
The worlds were framed by the Word of God.
The invisible created the visible.
That principle has never changed.
Find out what God says.
Speak it.
Obey it.
Endure every contradiction.
Then watch as the Word of God begins to alter reality itself.
God called things that were not as though they were.
We are instructed to look beyond what is seen.
The same Word that created the universe is still creating, healing, delivering, restoring, and transforming lives today.
Reality may have its facts.
But faith stands upon God's truth.
And eventually, reality must conform to what God has spoken.
